PMO - Project Management Office
The PMO approach is a key differentiator for eWave in terms of on-target project delivery, resource allocation, client satisfaction and implementation quality. It is the department that defines and maintains the standards of the project management process within eWave. The PMO is the source of documentation, guidance and metrics on the practice of project management and execution.
The PMO bases its project management principles on accepted industry-standard methodologies, such as PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) or PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments).
Industry statistics show us that 90% of projects do not meet time, cost, and/or quality targets. Only 9% of large, 16% of medium and 28% of small company projects were completed on time, within budget and delivered measurable business and stakeholder benefits [Standish Group Chaos Report, 1995]. There are many reasons for such failures. According to a KPMG survey of 252 organizations, technology is not the most critical factor. Inadequate project implementation management constitutes 32% of project failures; lack of communication constitutes 20%; and unfamiliarity with scope and complexity constitutes 17%. Accordingly, 69% of project failures are due to lack and/or improper implementation of project management methodologies.
In contrast, the eWave PMO tracks and follows up on project tasks through completion, and reports to executive management to ensure the project meets all stategic objectives.

The PMO enables eWave to oversee each individual project with attention to optimizing customer benefit. The advantages of this method are:
-
Managing proactively - optimizing planning and identifying and addressing potential delays early on
- Promoting information availability
- Maximizing communications
- Providing exact scheduling estimates
The PMO does not manage projects, but rather supports the project managers and eWave's senior management in running the projects most effectively. One of the PMO's most important management work outputs are templates to be used by project managers such as Gantt charts, reporting hours, etc.
